The academic eligibility rules for NCAA Division I programs will change on and after August 1st, 2016. The new initial-eligibility requirements create a higher academic standard for incoming freshman to compete than to receive aid and practice, creating an academic redshirt year.

Student-athletes who achieve the current minimum initial-eligibility standard on the test score-grade-point average sliding scale with at least a minimum 2.0 core-course GPA will continue to be eligible for athletically related financial aid during the first year of enrollment and practice during the first regular academic term of enrollment. Student-athletes could earn practice during the second term of enrollment by passing nine semester or eight quarter hours.

For immediate access to competition, prospective student-athletes must present at least a 2.3 GPA and an increased sliding scale. For example, an SAT score of 1,000 requires a 2.5 high school core-course GPA for competition and a 2.0 high school core-course GPA for aid and practice.

Prospects also must successfully complete 10 of the 16 total required core courses before the start of their senior year in high school. Seven of the 10 courses must be successfully completed in English, math and science.

The Boy’s U17 Team will begin its fall circuit pre-season training camp. This year’s objective is to defend its championship win from the 2011-2012 season.

Beginning May 1, the team will begin an arduous schedule of technical and tactictal training in preparation for the start of league play beginning in early September.

The team will be competing in the U18 category next season. It has a limited number of positions available. The coaching staff is looking to fill those positions with player tryouts during the months of May and June 2012.

Players born between August 1994 and August 1998 are eligible to participate in the tryouts. They will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Sequoia Elementary School training field.

The team’s U18 roster for the 2012-2013 season will be finalized by June 30, 2012.

Please contact the office at (866) 991-3535 for more information.

Hello Everybody !
Well, the time has arrived and we are on our way to Nationals!
On Sunday, April 22, we play our first game.
Let’s discuss transportation, food and dress code:

It is very important that we all help each other with the carpooling.
Nationals is a very important tournament, high visibility and if you can make it to the quarterfinals, we can participate in the College Showcase Weekend. It is so important that all of the players be at the game. As you all know, some players do not have transportation issues. So I am asking everyone to buddy up with a team mate if you are having transportation issues.

As of Thursday’s practice we have four (4) players that do not have a ride. All players will meet at the parking lot of the McDonald’s between 6:30a and 7:00a. If you need a ride to the game, you need to get to this meeting point. We are asking as many parents as possible to join our caravan. From this meeting point we will work with all the parents to ensure that all the players get transported to the game.

The McDonald’s we will meet at is located at:
7861 Beach Boulevard, Buena Park, CA 90620

We will leave at 7:00a promptly. We should arrive in Ventura at 9:30a. Once there we need to setup, players dress up and have their coach’s meeting. We must be ready for an 11:00a check-in.
Game time is Noon.

Players will wear their academy training shirt, with blue or black jeans or pants. Your uniform, pants and shoes must be impeccably clean.

Make sure you take all the gear and you may possibly need, such as:
~ academy blue sweatshirt
~ academy sports bag
~ ace bandages
~ shinguards
~ wrapping tapes
~ blue and white socks
~ money for lunch or a snack
~ water / sports drink

Parents – If you all can wear your cruz azul sports wear that would be great. If you have flags, please bring them!!!!!

If any of you can cooperate with bringing ice and fruits to snack on that would be helpful as well.

If you have any questions or more suggestions you think we should publish, please call the office.
